Bed & Breakfast at the Wharf

Our Bed and Breakfast

The charming B&B is on the waterfront in an historic building in the centre of Utrecht. With all the bustling going on in the streets above, here you find some peace and quiet. The spacious room allows you to eat, drink, work and relax in an artsy atmosphere. The house was built in the 19th century as a warehouse, so don’t expect a modern high tech 21st century apartment, but an old restored house with a lot of character.

The apartment

The front of the room has a settee and a large dining table. In the middle there are 3 beds and at the back of the room you find a kitchenette and facilities for making tea or coffee. The bathroom is at the back. Total surface is 50m2. The canal is just 3 meters from the front door. You can enter the apartment through the front door and the hallway or use the swinging doors in the front room to access the quay. We live above, so feel free to ask any questions.

Breakfast

To make you feel welcome, we have drinks and food in the fridge, which you can also use for your breakfast. Or you can choose to visit the bakery in the street above. Actually, there are plenty of café’s for breakfast, restaurants and grocery stores selling nice food.

The neighbourhood

The apartment has a nice view on the medieval canal. The quay, only accessible by foot, is right in front of the house. The bustling streets above offer bakeries, grocery stores, museums (Centraal Museum, Universiteitsmuseum, Catharijneconvent), the cinema (Louis Hartlooper Complex). All within 3 minutes walking distance. Walk to the centre along the Oudegracht and you’ll find vintage stores, boutiques, historic buildings café’s, bars, restaurants and all the modern shops.

Facilities

The apartment has its own entrance. It has a kitchenette. We supply towels, soap, shampoo, iron, hair dryer, cd-player, touristic information, terrace at the wharf. The apartment is not suited for little children. There is a cat walking around in the house. We hope you don’t mind. We keep the cat outside of the apartment.

How our guests liked their stay

5/5
Very hospitable and kind hosts. The apartment is cozy and unique as shown in the pictures. Great stay. Utrecht city is also highly recommendable. It is like a mini Amsterdam - only missing the overcrowded tourist traps

Leuk oud grachtenpandje. Ingericht met veel kunst en persoonlijke oude spulletjes, daar houden wij van. Super gelegen in het centrum, direct aan het water. Eigenlijk hoef je de deur niet uit.

Top! Lovely place, we enjoyed the warm welcome, the location, the central position, the individual style, and small surprises for breakfast and the whole arrangement.

Beautiful. Charming. Eccentric, unusual but very lovely indeed. We were left all manner of nice things to eat for breakfast and would have been quite happy to have stayed a few more days.
